BGF has big ambitions. We’re working to create something special - a network of entrepreneurs who can share knowledge, experiences and ideas to accelerate growth in their own businesses and each others’.

We saw this come to life when, on the 25th September 2014, we hosted our third annual CEO and Chairman Day. The meeting brought together portfolio companies and talent network members with industry experts in branding, finance, exporting, digital, sales, M&A and more.

The morning was spent in working groups of between 10-15 people discussing, debating and taking notes on an assortment of subjects – from talent development to salesforce effectiveness to cash management. Branding and consumer economics were the focus of two in-depth and interactive afternoon sessions, followed by an open panel and Q&A chaired by BGF’s CEO Stephen Welton.

During the evening reception – where investee businesses mingled with potential newcomers – key note speaker, John Cridland, director-general of the CBI, talked passionately about the importance of avoiding a one-size fits all approach to supporting smaller and mid-sized UK businesses.

BGF’s first CEO and Chairman Day took place three years ago. Back then, there were 20 people in the room. This time, the number swelled to over 120. We believe this is the tip of the iceberg – next year, we’re going to need an even bigger room!
