Describe yourself in three words.
Determined, honest, energetic.
What was your first job?
Washing my mum’s car when I was about seven. I charged £3 and got sacked when the nearest carwash reduced their price to £1.70. To quote my mother: “this isn’t personal, it’s business. If you can beat £1.70, I’ll happily re-employ you”. Do they call that tough love?
Who’s your business hero?
Richard Branson - failure does not mean the end!
Name one person who you would like to have dinner with.
Charles Darwin – I did a lot of evolutionary genetics in my degree and find the whole topic fascinating. Even better if we can arrange it in the Galapagos Islands.
Give us one positive prediction for UK entrepreneurs.
Increasing trend of supporting businesses with more than just money, leading to greater collaboration and ultimately more success.
What’s the best thing about your job?
Meeting massively enthusiastic management teams with brilliant businesses.
What’s the best quality in a leader?
What’s your favourite music/musician?
A question I dread, due to my woeful taste. I’ll pick the Lion King musical – nothing like Hakuna Matata on your running playlist to get the pulse racing!
What skill would you most like to have?
What’s your greatest personal achievement?
Tap dancing for HRH the Duchess of York.
