This fresh produce supplier, started by managing director Franco Fubini in 2004, aims to improve the quality of fruit and vegetables consumed in the UK. Supplying over 100 tonnes of fresh produce each week to pubs, restaurants and direct to consumers, it ranked at No 47 on the 2015 Sunday Times Fast Track 100.
What inspired you to start your business?
When I was living in New York I was disappointed by the quality of fresh produce available to consumers – I started the business when I saw the same thing in London.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding the right staff is an ongoing challenge. We’re now implementing a broader approach that allows us to search wider – more for quality than specific skills.
What has been your best business decision?
It was in 2007, when we chose to merge with Portobello Foods, a supplier of Italian food to restaurants and homes in London and across the UK.
What business leader do you most admire, and why?
Yvon Chouinard and the outdoor clothing brand that he founded, Patagonia. The company works on strong beliefs, with an ethical sourcing and supply chain, while Yvon has written several influential books about private companies including 'Let my people go surfing'.
