The first BGF Manufacturing Workshop was held in May 2016 at the Jaguar Land Rover facility in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham.
The day was designed exclusively for operations professionals at BGF-backed businesses to meet some of their peers, network and share their experiences of working at UK manufacturing SMEs.
BGF’s head of manufacturing, Mark Bryant, hosted the event and discussion topics included culture change, communication and supply chain management. We were joined by flexible workforce management expert, Neville Henderson and the Chief Technology Officer for Siemans industrial activities, Alan Norbury who provided an update on Industry 4.0.
Our friends at JLR invited the group on the ‘Castle Bromwich Tour’, offering an insight into the creation of its vehicles and the opportunity to see the entire production process, starting with a metal pressing through to a finished Jaguar F-Type being driven out the door.
Around one third of BGF portfolio companies are manufacturers, covering a broad range of sectors and producing diverse products – from aircraft seating to chemicals to technical fabrics. Guests included the Operations Directors from Molecular Products Group, Acro Aircraft Seating and Dudson.
BGF’s Manufacturing Workshop forms part of our commitment to provide the businesses we back with more than just money - by way of connections and support.
